National Opt-Out Day: Report from Philadelphia International Airport

It was strange to listen to the news reports of people having an easy time going through security on November 24th, 2010, the busiest travel day in the United States. However, the reason for these reports became clear once one saw the emptiness of the Airport in general, and the complete lack of lines surrounding the ticket counters. There was a large contingent of police officers waiting to escort those wanting to participate in the outreach. This contingent consisted of no less than two dozen members of the Philadelphia Police Department.

New Jersey moves to ban TSA scanners and sexually invasive frisks

In response to public and pilot outrage at sexual assault by transportation security authorities and to the carcinogenic x-ray machines used to scan flyers, New Jersey lawmakers announced on Monday the introduction of several resolutions banning such practices. Additionally, the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety, and Security is holding a Transportation Security Administration Oversight Hearing today (10 AM Wednesday).

While Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano seems deaf to public outrage, New Jersey lawmakers are not. Below is the video of the press conference held on Monday:
