An Open Letter to the Jewish Community

Dear Jewish Community,

I am writing on a very serious issue, one that has been made almost taboo – the necessity of civilian ownership of weapons, a right protected by our Constitution.

To support this is almost taboo among liberal Jews.  But in knowing this tabooed subject is central to what happened to us in Germany, we can see how Jewish Senators just betrayed us and our country.

They all broke their sworn oath to the Constitution.

The Bill of Rights is one of the most important political documents in human history and Jews living in terror emigrated here seeking the protective shelter of the Bill of Rights SOLID commitment to human rights.  So, how can we who care so much about maintaining those rights and our long-sought safety, now ignore that the framers of those Bill of Rights deemed that weapons in the hands of the common people are crucial.

And so did Mahatma Gandhi:

“Among the many misdeeds
of the British rule in India,
history will look upon
the act of depriving a whole nation of arms,
as the blackest.” 

Thus, Gandhi, who was exquisitely careful in his use of words, was saying that gun confiscation was worse than the British slaughter of unarmed men, women and children, worse then the extreme taxation and starvation the British caused, worse than the British wholesale destruction of India’s industries, etc.

For Gandhi, preventing the Indian people from owning their own weapons was the blackest deed the British committed against India in the centuries of their brutal tyranny there.

We as educated Jew pride ourselves on knowing history and learning terrible lessons from it, so why are we silent as Jewish Senators betray us all in voting to pull out the key element that the framers of the Bill of Rights put in to defend the rest – and to defend us?  As educated people who deeply admire Gandhi, why would we ignore his extreme warning?

Is it that we simply can’t believe that complete confiscation of civilian weapons is planned here?  Is this because we’ve been told by the government that gun owners and guns themselves are dangerous but not to worry, that “gun control” is not about gun confiscation?  Is it that Jewish liberals routinely discount warnings if those  come from those outside our community, treating those people as stupid or paranoid?  Yet the leaders of the Jewish community did not even listen Vrba, one of our own, to warn the Jewish community of the trains to Auschwitz.

The warnings of total gun confiscation are not paranoid or stupid. This UN document shows that it is quite true, and details the intent and order of actions for subtly ad slowly accomplishing it.

Are educated liberal Jews unaware of what Bush and Cheney began putting into place here – or the seriousness of it?  This so obviously intersects with the total NSA surveillance we are becoming aware of now, and with Obama’s signing the NDAA (at the 11th hour before New Year).

The Southern Poverty Law Center (whose lists of dangerous groups are posted in the NY Times) says the militias – composed of people who own their own guns – are racist and dangerous.

But the SPLC is working for the Department of Homeland Security, a law put in place by George Bush whose family made its fortune in Nazi Germany and In 1933 Prescott Bush, attempted a Fascist coup here.

Something is clearly wrong at the SPLC because they are listing one Constitutional group after another as racist and right-wing extremists – groups that are often multiracial and use as their inspiration, ensuring what happened to Jews during WWII doesn’t happen here!

What happened to SPLC’s opposition toward all prejudice?  They are using falsehoods to stigmatize honest, law-abiding people, creating false fear of them.  Does the Jewish community fall for this because SPLC’s lists get published in the NY Times and we are easy targets for such falsehoods about white Christians by our memory of pogroms, by conflating all white Christians with the KKK?

What is clear is that this fear is being stimulated by a government operating now under laws (Patriot Act, Homeland Security, surveillance laws) put in place by the Bushes and that Obama has added to this with more totalitarian laws – the NDAA, strengthening the NSA, undermining whistleblowers – and giving himself the right to assassinate Americans based solely on his decision (no trial).

The media that constantly promotes this fear of white Christians who own guns (more then half the country), stirring up one part of the country (liberals, especially Jews) to fear and hate another part (conservative, especially white Christians) and dividing the country.

But this division endangers us.  It closes our ears against all not like us, cuts us off from our countrymen who care about us.  This is a true story.  A NY Jewish psychiatrist grew up safely here in the US because his German grandfather – a man who had been in the German military before Hitler, took seriously a warning he got one night, when a friend (a white Christian military man) called him out of his house to tell him he must do all he could immediately, to get his family out of Germany.  Because the Jewish grandfather was not prejudiced as we are today, he could listen, and he was able to recognize the warning as a profound effort to help.  He got his family to safety.

We once consider it grossly immoral to discount a whole group of people based on their creed or religion or color.  But today, it is not just normal, it is even popular among liberals to openly disparage and detest conservatives, and to treat the militias which are urged by the framers of the Constitution, as dangerous groups of nuts.  So when huge numbers of people who are not in our clique are putting out a warning for everyone – we go about our business, smugly, considering them no ones or whackos or worse, a threat to ourselves.

Meanwhile, how many of us know a single such person themselves?  What we have been doing is not different than, and as disgusting as, fearing all black men as sexual predators or hating all Jews as money-grubbing.  This is prejudice of the worse kind and the most terrible result is not even to those we disparage, it’s that it cuts us off from the millions of good people and their actually caring about us (and everyone) and this country.

Please, take a few minutes to meet someone closely associated with the state militias, a Yale scholar, who is guiding military and militia in their commitment to the Constitution.  The short interview will give you an accurate, not prejudiced, view of who these people are and what they care about.

They are ready to give their lives to defend the Constitution and the American people, including us.  So why do we fear and hate them?  Because most (but far from all) are white and Christian?

Here is example of what defending the Constitution means – one of 10 orders they will not obey because such orders would be unconstitutional and they are “Constitutionalists” (a dirty word, thanks to SPLC) and are proud to consider themselves patriots (another deeply meaningful and honorable identity, turned upside down by SPLC, the government and the media).

7.  We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

Mass, forced internment into concentration camps was a hallmark of every fascist and communist dictatorship in the 20th Century. Such internment was unfortunately even used against American citizens of Japanese descent during World War II. Whenever a government interns its own people, it treats them like an occupied enemy population. Oppressive governments often use the internment of women and children to break the will of the men fighting for their liberty – as was done to the Boers, to the Jewish resisters in the Warsaw Ghetto, and to the Chechens, for example.

Such a vile order to forcibly intern Americans without charges or trial would be an act of war against the American people, and thus an act of treason, regardless of the pretext used. We will not commit treason, nor will we facilitate or support it.” NOT on Our Watch!”

Do militias who would refuse to follow such orders, and inspired by obvious sympathy for Jews who died – seem like dangerous right-wing extremists to you?

And how do these “dangerous racist” groups deal with religious or political differences?  Here is the editor of Oathkeepers, one working to have neighborhoods work together for everyone’s safety, responding to a comment:

The following warning comes from a conservative group.  It is a warning that Gandhi would strongly support.  And it too comes out of sympathy for what happened to the Jews during the Holocaust.

Last weekend marked the 75th anniversary of the tragedy of the Nazi terror of Kristallnacht.

With increasing attacks on Second Amendment rights in recent years, the lessons of Nazi violations of individual rights–including the disarming of “undesirables”–could not be more timely and important!

With the new attacks on Second Amendment rights across the country, the lessons of Nazi gun control could not be more timely and important!

The irony in all this is that most Jews do not own weapons.  For Jews and other unarmed people, more than for anyone else, local militia are essential.  If the Jewish community wants to be protected, whether from loss of power or food during a storm, or looting in emergencies, from drug gangs, or from our own government’s NDAA, their local militia is there to help.

To have protection Jews are not prepared to provide for themselves, the Jewish community must first question its ugly prejudice against militia who ready to die to protect people here and are not dangerous.

From there, perhaps it will be able to rethink the Jewish community’s unconstitutional acceptance of “gun control” which Gandhi warned was not just dangerous but the most terrible of all governmental actions.

It’s past time for Jews to get to know each other again – in person.  Jewish congregation do multi-religious get together to reduce fear and misunderstanding and foster friendships.  They could reduce a deeper fear if they invited their local militia come and visit so people get to know each other as ordinary people.  This is really the only way to get a real and more complete picture of the good people- different religions, different creeds, different races, different skills – who love this country and see that love is expressed in different, valuable ways.

Jewish Senators should have been the ones leading the fight to preserve our Constitutional right to be able to protect ourselves and/or to be protected by local militia if we cannot do it ourselves.  Jewish Senator should have been the ones exposing the UN plan which destroys US sovereignty (since when does the UN impose laws here, or slip in plans that are not even laws they have been voted on here?)

We know that Jewish leaders failed the Jewish community during WWII in not putting out Vrba’s warning on the trains.  But now, Jewish Senators have gone further than deadly silence.  They are betraying their fundamental oath to the Constitution and are supporting an international plan that leads to the confiscation of all arms from the people.  Mahatma Gandhi would be appalled.

Cognizant of its own history’s lessons and the refuge the whole Bill of Rights has provided them, the Jewish community MUST demand that its Senators and Representative abide by their oath to the Constitution and stand by the key element of the Bill of Rights – the part giving every person  the most basic of all human rights – the right to self protection, both individually and as an organized group.

My name is withheld but it is not relevant.  We must stop deciding things based on “who” the speaker is (one of us, not one of us?) and start listening to everyone and thinking for ourselves.  That is operating without prejudice.  What possible malign reason could there be for someone to encourage you to take seriously the Constitution, Gandhi, common sense, and history?  What possible positive reason might there be?  Either the material here is useful or it’s not.
